Marc Raab, MD, German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg, Germany, comments on the results of the MajesTEC-5 trial (NCT05695508), a Phase II study evaluating the efficacy of teclistamab (Tec)-based induction regimens in transplant-eligible patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM). Prof. Raab highlights that the trial showed an encouraging response rate, with most patients achieving measurable residual disease (MRD) negativity after only three cycles and all patients treated achieving MRD-negative complete remission (CR) at the end of induction. Despite these promising findings, Prof. Raab emphasizes the importance of stringent prophylactic measures to manage the risk of infection associated with this therapeutic approach.
