Hello,
just posting on here for some guidance, someone borrowed my bike for a bit and it looks like it took some damage. I have no clue how the damage occurred, and happened but rather all i care about is if you guys think i have to replace that part of the frame, leave it, go to a frame specialist im not sure what to do (for reference the bike is a 2020 giant reign sx) and the damage is in the rear.

thanks in advance

  1. If you want to ride this bike with confidence I suggest replacing the seat stay.

Alloy fatigue is very real and the failures can be very sudden.

If this came through the workshop there is no way I or any mechanic I have worked with would sign this of and put their name to it.

  2. That is a decent dent. The cracking will just be the paint.

Reddit loves to freak out about frame damage and will tell you it’s garbage now. IMO it’s definitely not optimal but I wouldn’t have any qualms about still riding it. Resale value is definitely shot though.

Depending on your relationship with the person who borrowed it, you might want to see about them buying you a new rear triangle.
