I've just removed the cassette to replace with a wider range but the new cassette won't slide on due to these dints on the cassette hub. I can file them out but that doesn't seem like the best option!
Oh that’s hardly much of a gouge. Filling off will be fine, but do make sure to torque the new cassette to 40 N*m to help the new one not to dig in more.

That’s a very small and harmless extend. I’m surprised it makes installing the cassette difficult. Filing them down is fine, just make sure it’s not because your spline patterns are not aligned 😉

Just make sure you set the splines correctly and apply a little more force than usual, it will fit. I got way bigger dents on my NS Rotary and nothing seems bad.
