The challenging finale of Stage 3 of the 2025 Tour Down Under in Uraidla seemed destined to crown one of the general classification favorites, but it was Spain’s Javier Romo who seized the victory!
Javier Romo (26) triumphed in Stage 3 of the 2025 Tour Down Under (2.UWT) this Thursday, January 23. The Spanish rider from the Movistar team claimed a solo victory in Uraidla after 147.5 kilometers of racing. Launching his decisive attack on the final climb, Knotts Hill (2.7km at 7.8%), around 5 kilometers from the finish, the powerful rouleur held off the chasing group of favorites to win with a narrow margin.
Jhonatan Narvaez (UAE Team Emirates XRG) and Finn Fisher-Black (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) rounded out the podium. Notably, 18-year-old Albert Withen Philipsen (Lidl-Trek) delivered an impressive fourth-place finish.
With this victory, Javier Romo took over the leader’s jersey in the general classification.
