Hey everyone!

In today’s video, I’m narrowing down five incredible bikepacking routes / plans for my next adventure, and I need YOUR help to decide where to go!

From the brutal climbs of the Pyrenees to the wild beauty of the Outer Hebrides, each destination offers unique camping and cycling experiences. I’ll be battling unpredictable weather, setting up camp in remote spots, and fully immersing myself in nature.

In this video, I break down my top picks:

* Pyrenees Coast to Coast: Stunning mountain views, tough climbs, and remote campsites.
* Outer Hebrides, Scotland: Isolated coastal beauty and magical beach camping.
* The Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland: Epic coastal views and historical sites.
* Pictish Trail, Scotland: Solitude, ancient ruins, and Highland landscapes.
* Poland: Hidden gems, affordable campsites, and quiet forests.

  1. I cycled the Outer Hebridean Way in April 2017 on my touring bike but I didn't spend enough time to enjoy it properly so I'm doing it again later this year. I can definitely recommend it as a bikepacking route.

I've cycled around the Pyrenees and I'm sure that you'll know how nice (and hard) that can be.

I've cycled quite a lot around Poland and I love the ease of how you can just get on a train with your bike without prior booking.
I can really recommend Poland, beautiful country.

I've cycled all over Scotland, on road and off, and can't fault it, especially as a wild camper.

I've not cycled in Ireland but I aim to do the Ring of Kerry and surrounding area when I can.

  2. Did the Raid Pyrenean route (Hendaye to Cerbere) but leisurely with luggage. Used European Bike Express to Bayonne and flew back from Perpignan. Unfortunately don't think bike express still do Bayonne drop-off so maybe ferry from Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao (long) and Bike Express return from Roses (Spain) to avoid flying. Classic route/climbs for cycling👌. Enjoy wherever👍

  3. I think it partly depends when you have the time off, Scotland in summer always seems to be busy, with midges and not great weather, I’ve always been more lucky May / early June. The Pyrenees always looks amazing, although the climbing is a bit of a shocker, easy to get to the start, ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbo and a train from Bilbo to Hendaye. I did that bit last year (the opposite way round) to get home from the end of the EV1.

  4. My girlfriend and I rode the Pictish Trail last summer on our tandem bike! We had an awesome time despite some very poor weather, and it was a great trip for building our confidence that we could wildcamp for a few weeks. (We loved it!) The main appeal of the route, for us, was that it offered bail out points via rail. In fact, the rail access saved our trip when our rear hub blew out in the Cairngorms.

That said, I think we'd like our future routes to be a little more rugged. The Pictish trail never puts you too far from civilization, and a good chunk is on the A9 (which was unbelievably awful). If you chose the Pictish Trail, I highly advise you do whatever you can to bypass the A9. Perhaps if we were able to cycle the Cairngorms we'd have had a better time.

Poland and western Scotland are at the tops of our lists, too!

  5. Oh-errr – ALL of them really! The Hebrides are stunningly beautiful, the coast to coast would be gorgeous too… Ireland and Poland both sound like you’d find plenty to keep you entertained and the Pictish Way – mmmmmm! Impossible choice! Just enjoy…and keep filming! 😂
