King Charles was dealt a blow when Partridges, a grocery shop he had relied on for years, announced that its flagship store in Chelsea would be shutting after 53 years.
According to GB News, the business has long been a Chelsea favourite and has even provided food to the British royal family.
Although the main store is closing, Partridges will keep another store running on Gloucester Road and intends to establish a new one in 2025, the article stated.
In an interview with the journal, the store’s co-founder, John Shepherd, confessed that he is sad to see the Chelsea location go.
“We are very sad to be leaving Chelsea after an incredible 53 years serving local residents,” the politician stated.
“Although our Chelsea chapter is coming to an end, we are looking forward to building Partridges in smaller and more sustainable shop formats across London.”We hope that this is not the end, and that many of our regular clients will see us on Gloucester Road.”
This comes after it was announced that Charles will need to continue cancer treatment in 2025, over a year after his illness became public.
In a statement to Sky News, a Buckingham Palace source stated Prince Charles’ “treatment has been moving in a positive direction, and as a managed condition, the treatment cycle will continue into next year.”
