Cycling in Iceland.
In 2020 i cycled in Iceland for four weeks. The land of ice and fire…and lonelyness. Just me, my bike and my tent. Total distance 1850 kilometer.
It was a great adventure. Iceland is a challenge for cyclists. I not only cycled on the ring road but also went straight through the outlands. On the gravelroads through the uninhabited volcanic landscape. The weather is very unpredictable and can make your journey difficult. One big adventure to remember.
because of the corona lockdown there were very few tourists, so there was almost no traffic. this made the landscape even more intense and I often felt alone in the world of fire and ice.

The best way to visit a country is by bycicle. Not too fast and not too slow. You experience your journey in an intense way. You feel the climat, you smel the landscape and you you are a part of it. It’s easy to interact with the people. Bicycle touring has really enriched my life. So watch my video’s and join me.

  1. Heel knap.

  2. Hi there, nice video. Hopefully our icelandic weather wasn't too hard on you. 🙂
I do a fair bit of cycle touring here in Iceland during summer, I was cycling the same route on the east coast in june. Got sunburnt there. Looks like you got a bit more clouds. Planning on tackling the Westfjords next summer.
Plenty more routes available for you to cycle so hopefully we will see more of you here… 🙂
    Best wishes from Iceland

  4. Hi Audrey! I saw this video by accident and I was very impressed with your trip to Iceland! It was really cool! I also went to your website and was even more impressed with your tours and adventures! You're doing fine! I will read your stories about traveling the world. God bless you!

  5. Hi ! Great vidéo !
I'm planing a similar trip this summer abd I am wondering how did you manage for the bike's cardboard box ? Did you stored it somewhere during your trip or did you get a new one at the end of your trip ?
    Thanks, Julien

  6. Wow, amazing trip. Thanks for sharing. Am planning a similar trip in the future, am not sure what type of touring bike and tire would be good for the back roads of Iceland. May ask what type of bike and tire you used for this trip. Thanks

  7. I love your videos. They're very inspiring. I did my first 500 mi bicycle tour in 2020. I'm hoping to ride all the way across the United States in 2023. Thank you for sharing.

  8. Hi Audrey. Thanks for sharing. What a great adventure. I am planning to do the ring road solo in July 2024. I'm looking at campsites and in some cases the distance between them can be quite high. I only plan to cycle about 60km to 70km a day. How did you get on with wild camping? I've researched it a little bit and I've got a bit confused as to what the rules actually are. Many thanks Ian.
