Checking in before seating the Chris King crown race on carbon fork, carbon steerer.
The race is not a split ring common on many carbon forks today. Is it ok to tap it in place? Or is it mandatory to use a split ring crown race on a carbon steer tube?

This part of the steerer tube is (supposed to be) made thick enough walled for either, so as to withstand possible fretting/abrasion by a split ring, or compression by a solid ring.
