Trying to figure out how these jagwire direct adjusters work. In the picture I have my shifter cable completely detached from the front detailer as I am changing out the cable. This is the new cable and I'm trying to figure out how to adjust it. When I turn the jagwire adjuster nothing happens while the cable is reasonable tight and attached. Am I missing something here?

Need the housing installed and the cable connected
You’re not really adjusting the cable, you are lengthening the housing (spreading apart the 2 housing sections) with the adjuster, therefore tightening the cable in it.
That looks like the barrel adjuster Jagwire used for Shimano shifters when the shift cable ran outside of the bar tape. If that’s the case, the skinny end goes right up against/ιn the shifter with new housing and ferrule going in the other side.
If it’s a standard inline adjuster, then you just need to split the housing somewhere that makes sense
These look like the kind that get installed to older Shimano shifters where the shift cable excited the inboard side of the body.
