At the start of the 75th anniversary of its signing and as a prologue to ECHR 75, we, a new generation of the family of David Maxwell Fyfe, its British artisan, are spelling out its articles, challenging MPs of all parties to protect our fundamental, universal and inalienable rights and freedoms.
Following mythical streams of natural law down the country, we tell the story of the creation of ECHR through David’s eyes in extracts from our song cycle, Dreams of Peace & Freedom.
In St Albans we celebrate and spell out Article 6 – Right to a Fair Trial – everyone is entitled to a fair and public hearing within a reasonable time by an independent and impartial tribunal established by law.
