I just purchased my first mountain bike, I got it for $2000!

Bike: Propain Tyee 5 CF 27.5 Small

Is this a good bike for DFW Trails? Was this a good deal or I got scammed?

It feels really light from bikes I remember as a kid, and extremely smooth to pedal around the Costco parking lot to try it out. He even had some sort of air pump to check the front forks and made sure they had on the pump what he said they should be at 100, he made sure that they were at 100. Seemed like a legit guy.

The guy said reason for sale was because he got into too much money with baseball cards, and needs to recover some money back and he has another bike, a hard tail, so he was selling this one.

Anything anyone can teach me or tell me to make sure this bike is dialed in and ready for
Me to ride on for DFW trails I would appreciate it! I am 5’5 150lbs. Thanks ahead of time everyone , I’m excited to be here officially instead of lurking and drooling at all of your bikes I see all the time!

  1. You got scammed a little cause its 40% off brand new just now, other than that it’s a good bike at a good price! Enjoy

  2. That’s not bad. Also, get your own shock pump and adjust the pressure in your shocks appropriately. 100 PSI in the fork is way too high for your weight.

  3. “he made sure that they were at 100” oh gosh

I think you payed a little bit much but honestly not bad

Look up suspension setup tips but honestly it may go a bit over your head, youll need one of those air pumps. Or bring it to a bike shop and ask for them to help you.

    have fun

    This sub is such shit.

    – Topic: Price
    – Picture location: parking lot
    – Cars present: yes
    – Where is bike: on a rack.

  5. Bike looks barely ridden. Hell of a bike for 2 grand. Get your suspension dialed in and go ride the hell out of it.

  6. It was a fair deal. May have paid a little bit more but it saves you the wait in build and shipping time.
    Go enjoy it

  7. Why are you asking?

Did it come with a money-back guarantee?

If not, are you going to try and sell it on for more?

I know you’re asking for validation/bragging/seeking someone to soothe your troubled brow, but you’ve got the whole ‘check/buy’ process the wrong way ‘round.

It’s yours now, and the money is gone never to be seen again; how will your enjoyment vary if everyone told you you’ve been ripped-off?

100psi in the fork is hilarious. I’d say that this is a very lukewarm deal, but you could have done worse. An extra $800 would have gotten you the new model with a lifetime warranty. Also, I’d replace those Amazon special pedals before you hurt yourself

Regardless, congrats on the new bike!

  9. I have this bike. It’s my third “real mtb” in my life. I absolutely love this thing. I bought mine brand new with a big discount (new model was coming out).

I can’t speak on prices and etc because I’m an idiot with evaluating things. Then I look at reddit and get even more confused. If I could only I could buy things at the prices redditors put on things(everything not just mtb).

All that to say, you already paid for it. Whether you got scammed or not, if I was in your shoes (and I always am when buying things), ride the hell out of it. Enjoy it as much as possible and forget what you paid for it.

I’m give this advice to my self all the time. Because otherwise I live in regret and will be unable to enjoy the thing I bought to bring me joy.

Buy a suspension pump and watch a tutorial on YouTube , your pressures are way off I’m guessing the rear is equally as fucked . Also get new pedals , I’d recommend anvil tilts , if you want something composite the. One ups seem to work for a lot of people. The ones currently on the bike look dangerously shitty. I would say it’s a good deal it looks barely ridden.

It’s okay-ish, but you could’ve found similarly equipped bike for less in same condition, that’s for sure.

  12. I hate these posts. Why do people ask after they bought the bike? Too late. You bought it. Now just ride it and don’t think about the money.

  13. Dope bike! It’s definitely more than capable of covering any trail in North Texas. Enjoy!

  14. In order for you to be scammed the bike would have to be stolen or in worse condition than the seller claimed. Paying to much for someting would just be you making a bad deal…

That being said, price seems fine.
