Installing new chainring 56-34T and Magene PES505 however when I shift to the smaller chainring the chain gets stuck between the two chainrings.
What did I miss/ get wrong and how can I fix it?

Too much tension on the cable. Loosen it a bit at the clamp or barrel adjuster
Is the FD cage low enough to drop to 34 from a 56?
Cable tension/ derailleur adjustment will not cause this. Most probably cause is you have put the inner chainring on backwards.
Edit: on a closer look, I can see that the chainring is indeed backwards. Swap it around and your problems should be solved
Small chainring may have some offset and maybe needs flipping around
depend on the set up of deraileur, and if you touch chainrings, can be that you turn smalles in wrong position or if you change plates, you have not compatibility plates.
