To be fair – and I say this as a MASSIVE Campy fan with bougie bikes – it really is extremely diminishing returns.
Still going to buy it until I can’t afford it.

But I bet the newer bike shifted SO much better while saving 40 seconds.
The 9s Chorus groupset on my old Litespeed was a truly gorgeous bit of kit. So so elegantly engineered and nice to look at.
But there is no way I’d trade the boring 11s 105 groupset on there now because it’s just so superior in every way except looks.

Campy should just lean into the resto-mod / bling market. I dont want carbon Record with their weird electonic. Offer a fully polished finished 12/13 speed mechanical group set, and I’ll pay the premium and rock it on group / weekend rides.

Cool topic. Great looking retro build.
41sec is a life time in road bikes.
I would be interested to what would happen if the Retro had similar carbon wheels but rim breaks and what the weight of each bicycle is.
