Hi all,
I recently tried to replace the bottom bracket on my 2018 Smart S Van Moof.
Before changing I did some research and found a code for the bottom bracket,
I ordered replacement, but when removing the old bottom bracket it had a different code.
Old bracket 68+3×110.5
Code for new one from van moof archive website was 68113 vp.
I have found a bracket that is 68+3×115 (actually is strange also, it has the same manufacturer part code)
Does the length of the spindle really make a big difference?
Or is the one I found a replacement of the old from manufacturer website?
Please help,

  1. grab yourelf calipers and masure the lenght of the spinde and decide on that. The 68 is bb shell width, this has to be same and numbers 110, 113, 115 and such are the spindle lenght in millimetres, which is determined by the cranks. The manufactuer should give you a recommended spindle lenght. So in your case I would look for 68×110 or 110,5 as longer spindle could cause shifting issues on front derailluer. If you have single chainring on front, then that doesnt have to be problem in some cases. As for the nuber 3, I have no idea, perhaps just extra info for what crankset is would be recommended. To put it simple bb of 68×110 like the shimano one should work fine

    Edit:
I looked at what bike it is and since its dedicated single speed, I would more than advise you to get 68×110 bb, as the chainline is most likely made for those specs, especially with those chain guards, since it could rub there or maybe not even fit.

Try measuring it? Look at what size the dimensions match or look at what the bike it came off from
    Is compatible with

It might be ok going from 110.5 to 115, as the spindle length increase could be split on equal sides, so that the drive side which is the one that affects chainline would only be changed by 2.25mm. you are not limited to vp brand though, any JIS pattern (ie not campagnolo/iso which are much rarer) 68mm bso square taper bsa thread bottom bracket of the right length will do.

  4. 110mm is ok for single speed/ fixed bike (at least I am using for that) IDK if the difference is too big and the chainline will be bad

  5. Yes it is a problem because the crankset will be offset from the front derailleur. You have to make sure that the thread is the same. Good luck
