What does it feel like? e.g. is it just spinning with no resistance, does it go tight then loose

That’ll eventually become an expensive problem. First thing is contact the manufacturer, if their is warranty left or maybe they will have some good will to help you out.
If not, try re-cutting the existing thread. If this doesn’t work, I could think of one possible solution: You could go one bolt size up, but you’ll need to drill and cut new threads into the frame. This is definitely a risky business! Would be best to have some kind of fixture for the drill where you can limit the depth and adjust the axis of the drill. Also be sure to use flat end drill bits and screw taps and be very careful!!!
