“My GT comes with a 19mm x 8T spindle. I just picked up a new 41-tooth sprocket for my GT Performer, but it didn’t include a top hat washer. Can I use a standard washer to make it fit, or should I get a proper top hat washer? Does it make a difference?”

All sprockets comes in 24mm yours should have a washer in it if it’s after market complete for not I’m not sure but you’ll be okay if it dose all washer are universal I have a Sunday sprocket with a bsd washer and no issues you’ll be okay 🙂
Mine didn’t come with hat washers either. I’m just gonna use spacers.
Real question is will it clear your chain stays, doesn’t look like it from that picture. But also top hats matter, if the sprocket isn’t centered you’ll have tight and loose spots
Any 19mm should work
