  1. Try all four positions on the square taper. Most of the time there will be one position that is objectively the straightest.

  2. I don’t see damage to the frame other than paint. The dent is supposed to be there for clearance. But either the chainrings are bent, or the bottom bracket spindle is. The former happens to me sometimes if I store a bike without wheels, chainring on the ground, putting side loads it wasn’t designed for on that area, whereas the latter usually involves me abusing cheap components or reusing components from crashed bikes on frankenbuilds

  3. Bent spider, bent chain ring from shifting under load too much. the spider bolts may be put in the incorrect holes possibly?I would take it all apart and lay the chainring on a flat surface to make sure it isn’t bent….then diagnose bolts
