Hard to tell from the picture it could be just brakedust. If its a groove then the rotor porbably needs replacement but nothing too concering id say. Just an argument to get the price further down

I’d be prepared to replace that caliper at some point, but I don’t think it would stop me from buying a bike. I might ask for some money knocked off the price though.

That’s salt corrosion on aluminium, which has lifted the paint on caliper. Could be looking at a new one in near future.

Just found the listing, the amount of chips in odd places screams uncareful owner.

“Hey, im gonna need to replace that caliper its clearly on its way out, can we deduct the cost of that from the price?

Although replacing a caliper isn’t necessarily a big deal although should take some off the price, when you see signs like these it’s best to be careful about any other potential issues like rusty bearings.
That’s oxidation on the caliper and I haven’t personally seen that before so must’ve been in pretty bad conditions.

this was probably ridden on a stationary trainer because that looks like salt corrosion from sweat. The pin that holds the brake pads in could very well be seized as I’ve seen that before. The front mech could have some corrosion issues as well. you’re also going to want to look under the bar tape to see how the bars and levers look from corrosion.

I would stay away from this one. Looks like it’s been banged around a lot judging from the seat stays.

Bought a BMC Teammachine SLR02 3 years ago with the same signs, back and front. Works perfectly since the day I bought it.

I’d offer them 1,000 U.S. and see what they say.

Check the spoke screws! They may also be corroded and will deform instead of turning.

Meh changing a caliper isn’t that big of a deal but you need to neglect a bike quite a bit to let it get that badly corroded tbh. So not necessarily a deal breaker but it would make me weary of what kinda life this thing had.
Edit: like other people have said sweat can cause this as well when put in a trainer however that’s not necessarily great either sweat eats bikes for breakfast.
Edit#2: wth this guy wants 2200 for a 2020 model with 11spd mechanical in this state? I would keep looking tbh these were 3500 new 5 years ago. You can get better for 2200$, well at least where i live i don’t know what the market is like in your part of the world.
