I wonder if the expander plug ist still too high and if I should grind off a little more of the fork? Everything is compressed to 4nm as indicated so far.

It’s currently not low enough, if you put the top cap on it won’t be able to provide preload. It might work if you put an additional spacer on top.
Top of the plug should be 3 or 4mm underneath the top of the stem so the preload cap can do it’s job properly.
Oh no now I fucked it up. Actually the fork was the right size but the plug slipped. Well I realised that after cutting the fork again. Expansive lesson learned :/
