Light hearted post but It always cracks me up when people describe 22” and β€œhuge”. I’m 6’3 and barely fit on one. The guy that rides this Diamondback is probably 5’9 and fits him well. I have a true 23” High Plains that fits much, much better. Plenty of guys were 6’3 but barely any 23” MTB frames were ever made. Schwinn and Trek made tons of 25” road bikes but the MTB stopped at 23”. I guess that’s a good thing or else I’d own a garage full of 90s bikes.

  1. Old bikes were sized wonk. Β

My 2010s Marin is a 17.5” and fits me great. Β

Rehabbed an early 90s rockhopper for a neighbor, 19” and was tiny af. Β

Height alone is tough to go by because while that 22” may fit that 5’9 guy well, I’d bet it would be a stretch for me with the seat slammed at 5’11 with short legs. I’m comfy on 19-20”.. but hey there’s a sweet 22.5” rockhopper that’s been listed near me for a while, way too big for me
