Hi All,
I’m struggling to import GPX data into Google Maps. Heres what I want to do. I’m planning a bike trip accross Europe. Europe has a very developed system of bike routes called the Eurovelo. There are about a dozen routes or so. You can view them on Eurovelo website, but each route is not found easily on Google Maps.
I would like to view the routes on Google Maps since this is my main GPS while bike touring. Ideally, I’d like to see turn by turn directions of each route.
I’ve tried to make this happen by downloading the GPX and data and importing into Google My Maps. This will display the route, but when I try to add a bicycling directions layer in My Maps it selects a route that is completely different than the route I’m working with. I tried converting the GPX to KML but had the same problem. See the pic below. Red is the route I would like directions for, Blue is the route that comes up when searching bike directions in Google Maps.
Can someone please share some wisdom on how I can get a nice, simple bike route from say, Paris, France to Lillehammer, Norway and see turn by turn directions? GPX data is available on the Eurovelo site which I will link.
