Do OMM racks come with axle mount options by default? According to the fit wizard on their website, the rack is compatible with my bike (a Surly Karate Monkey) right out of the box. That’s not surprising given the mounting options on the frame.
My current rack is a Tumbleweed T-Rack (pictured), which attaches to the frame forward of the rear axle. It has three-pack bosses for mounting cargo, but I've found that almost anything I attach there interferes with my heels while pedaling.
I see two potential solutions:
-
Switch to an axle-mounted rack like the OMM Elkhorn.
-
Buy extensions for the T-Rack.
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I have the divide rack and the exact same bike that you have.
When I purchased mine it shipped with all the mounting hardware, but it was NOT the thru axle mounting.
I believe Robert’s Axle Project makes one for purchase though.
Otherwise:
I have mixed opinions on the rack- mine came loose and wouldn’t tighten properly. I’m guessing that was a user error because everyone else loves them and I’m a shit mechanic.
I also struggled to remount my rear tire with it on (as did the shop I stopped in at). I think it’s because it exerts so much pressure on the axle.
On the other hand the pannier got from them kicked ass and the company was very responsive to an email regarding installation.
Edit: what’s your top tub bag? Looks awesome.
OMM racks are eyelet mountable out of the box. They don’t have a thru axle option for the Karate Monkey yet because that bike has Surly’s proprietary axle and all Surly’s have rack eyelets.
