Hi all, I will be visiting Tokyo in December later this year.

While in Tokyo, or even before arriving in Tokyo, I am planning to purchase a bike from Canyon’s website, and have it delivered to my hotel, where I would bring it out of the country with me when I depart Japan. The reason for this is because the cost of the bike when purchasing it from the Japan-specific site, is much lower than if I were to purchase it from my own country-specific site.

However, has anyone done this before, and would you happen to know if there would be any import charges or consumption taxes levied? There are no such charges imposed by Canyon upon checking out, and a small disclaimer at the bottom of the checkout page said that any charges would be paid to the shipping partners (see [image](https://i.imgur.com/HjGgD7e.png)).

  1. There may be custom charges as you import the bike into your own country of origin, which you have not specified. Unless you are planning to smuggle it.

Also, good luck with warranty if anything goes wrong.

Finally, good luck with timing the delivery to the hotel: bike delivery delays are quite common these days.
