What am I doing wrong here? I have followed a few u brake set up tutorials online and I can’t seem to get it to work properly.
I have v brakes on the front that work fine.
There is some play in the lever which I cant get rid of, they work well enough to stop the back wheel on the stand but when riding the brakes hardly work.

The amount of cable pull is critical for u-brake to work well. Lever need to match the u brake. Many adjustable levers will work if they have the range.
Is the straddle wire carrier resting on the frame? Add more slack to the straddle wire, and move the carrier closer to the top tube.

In addition to what’s been mentioned. Flip those spacers so the thicker set is where the thinner ones are.
