  1. Is that a Suntour fork with a Q-Loc axle? You really don’t want to ride it that way. Check the service manual.

  2. Don’t remove the secure clip and read the friggin manual of the axle, it’s actually an ingenious design

And remove that grease on the outer side, it will just gather dirt

  3. You mount it drivetrain side (opposite the rotor) to avoid smudging the rotor with your hands or arms when opening/closing.

AND PUT THAT WASHER AND CLIP RIGHT BACK ON.

  4. You can get a different thru-axle instead. Make sure it’s at least 150mm total length for either 100 or 110 boost. Also it needs to be 15mm wide. Sometimes the thread is 14mm and sometimes 15mm, I have both, doesn’t really matter either way. They have them on Amazon and E-Bay for cheap. I did that with two different Suntour forks because I couldn’t stand the Q-Loc. The generic axles will have end caps; you of course have to tighten those but it will work. Remember a bit too long of an axle is better than too short. If there is play you can put a couple of spacers between the stanchion and axle lever. The spacers are on the outside of the fork as opposed to the ones that you’d use for 100mm wheels in a 110 fork. Trust me it will work fine and 10 times easier than the fucking Q-Loc that never works the same again after a few tries. You will get very sick and tired of the Q-Loc real fast. Go on Amazon and type in 15mm thru-axle, remember they MUST have end caps that come with the axle or you’ll have to guess on the right 1.25 or 1.50 mm pitch later (as well as M14 or M15).
