Can someone help me get my address to sit correctly on my new setup. I have a cane creek ZS44 28.6/30 but it doesn't fit well, and there is too much clearance between fork and frame. the bearing is positioned properly. thank you
It looks like there’s a dust cap on there which is something that should only be on the top. Can you take it apart and lay out the parts in the order they’re installed currently? That way we can better understand what is going on.
SSSasky on
I think it’s possible that the weirdly oversized fork crown is making the headset look really weird, but nothing may be technically ‘wrong’. That Cane Creek headset has a particularly ‘domed’ profile – another headset with a more squared off profile may look less weird, but I don’t think that’s actually the main issue here.
What’s the bike?
If the frame is designed to be compatible with a tapered fork or a straight fork (as you have), the frame manufacturer may intend for you to use an external bottom cup (EC44) as you would with a tapered fork, and an adapter crown race to fit the non-tapered steertube. The external bottom cup would create a more seamless line down to that wide fork crown.

If that is the case you would be looking for a ZS44/28.6 | EC44/30 combo ([like this one](https://canecreek.com/product/40-series-zs44-28-6-h8-ec44-30-complete-baa0719k/)), with the addition of an adapter crown race [like this one](https://canecreek.com/product/40-series-52-30mm-steel-crown-race-baa0009s/). Using a setup like that would allow you to even swap back and forth between forks without changing the headset (as the crown races would remain installed on the fork, and everything else would be compatible)
I would check with the frame manufacturer regarding how they intended for the headset to be setup. They may have a specific brand recommendation.
