I recently bought an “Endurace 7 AL”, which mounts the “Selle Italia model X” saddle.

I have used it little for the moment but I find the shape very comfortable, however I have heard several negative reviews regarding the edge of the saddle that would destroy the shorts, your opinion? should I change it? do you have any similar saddles that do not have this problem?

  1. It’s a common complaint against the model. Selle Italia offers various models with similar shape but different sizes and surface material, or there are hundreds of other options.

  2. I have had similar concerns when I bought my Endurace 2 years ago, however after a few thousands kilometers, the saddle did not do any damage to any of my 3 different bibs and it is comfortable for me. If you find it comfortable I wouldn’t change it.

  3. I use the Selle Italia Novus which has almost an identical shape to the X. Never has it ripped up any of my bibs or even frayed them.
Saddles are so specific to each person in terms of fit, and there is no “one saddle to rule them all”. I say, if the X is comfortable to you, and you have no issues, then you’re good. Others reviews are their opinion and super subjective. We all have different sit bones and body types.

  4. I tried for a while to adjust the placement to try to make it comfortable but ultimately when I swapped to a brooks it turns out I was wasting my time and this saddle just wasn’t for me.
