After a difficult assembly of the steering wheel i’m noticing the stem is not flush and has a considerable gap. I’ve probably already put too much pressure on it but its not budging or coming and closer to the frame.
Am I overreacting or should it be closer to the frame? Any tips in fixing this myself before i call customer service?

Check if the headset has play. If not, all good
Looks fine. There should be a gap. If headset has no play it’s fine.
You know that the fork should be able to rotate freely? There has to be a gap, otherwise there would be carbon rubbing on carbon… Just search for “gap” in this sub. When you pull the front brake there just shouldn’t be any movement when you try to move the bike forward & backward. Putting too much pressure on the headset is not good though…

damn bro your bike has a steering wheel
Others have answered the issue, just wanted to point out there’s no stem in that photo. That is the interface between the fork and the head tube of the frame.
