  1. The Texas BBQ Tour is a 100 mile route that starts and ends in Lockhart TX. Lockhart is recognized as the capital of BBQ in Texas and the brisket in this town can’t be missed. The route meanders along old farm roads and gravel for 45 miles until you reach Palmetto State Park campground which is the highlight of the whole experience. The park feels like an oasis in a very dry and barren region of Texas and offers great campsites beside the pond. Day 2 is a 50 mile ride back to Lockhart to reward yourself with brisket and beer.

  2. You carry dog pepper spray with you? I’ve biked some of those dirt roads and can’t tell you how many dogs have chased me.
