I’m not sure why several people are saying to ignore this bike. It is perfect for what you want. About the only problem I see is you may want to switch to flat pedals. Currently it requires shoes that use Shimano SPD cleats. Price seems reasonable even at 290. You can try 200 but that is asking the seller to accept about a third less. They may just say no instead of negotiating.

I don’t understand all the naysayers, it’s a decent touring bike.
I think “Novara” just doesn’t have the brand recognition and cachet of large brands, but they were decent bikes. Good quality chromoly steel, decent Shimano Deore parts… you would have a hard time finding any other touring bike like it for the price. If you can get it down to $200, I say go for it. I think the people claiming it’s worth $100 are part of the spandex and carbon fiber everything crowd, and have an entirely different set of priorities than you do.
