Italy Bicycling: Ravello Positano Amalfi loop 4K

This long loop ride has us visit the Amalfi area in Southern Italy. We start out at the La Medusa Hotel in Castellamare da Stabia and immediately experience Italian roads, traffic and driving habits as we traverse the local urban area. If you don’t much enjoy traffic, skip to about 30 minutes in. Once we reach Sant’ Egidio del Monte Albino, we enter the Chiunzi mountain pass which takes us high up to the peak at Valico di Chiunzi, climbing 600 meters. From there it is a gentler ride to the tourist town of Ravello, with first peaks down to the Amalfi coast. We descent to the Gulf of Salerno and enter the famous and bustling coast road. We pass through Amalfi, Praiano and Positano before we exit the Amalfi Coast on an uphill route towards the picturesque town of Sorrento. More hills, Italian traffic and views of the Sorrento bay, Naples and Mount Vesuvius lead us back to the hotel from where we started this adventure.
