After selling my road bike last week, i felt weird not having a bike in my possession so resurrected this heap from my parent’s shed.
I was gifted this bike in original, but poor, condition 10 years ago. I painted it silver in 2016, road it for a few years, lent it to a friend for a couple years, loaned it to a brother for 2 more years and left it out in the rain since then.
After picking it up, I swapped over these 2.2 wide tires from another bike. I installed these bars, stem, rear derailleur, and 10speed cassette that I bought last summer from a yard sale. I also replace the cable housings with lightly used housing I had laying around. I spent $30 getting this thing up and running buying a chain and those purple cable ends. Grips were a AliExpress buy from a year ago for another project that never got used. The chain ring, if I remember correctly, was the cheapest oval chainring I could find on Amazon 3 years ago. Mismatched brake levers and other odds and ends from my hoard.
It’s a heap of polished poop at the end of the day but I think this will make the perfect errand rig, and will slightly deter thieves if I leave all the rust.

All city bike
What derailleur is that? It looks like an older 8 or 9 speed from far away. Interested to know as I’d like to possibly grab one to out on my vintage 10 speed swapped cannondale to keep it looking more period correct
glad to see you resolved the ‘core sampler handlebars’ issue
How does that XT M732? shift that big cassette without an extension link? It’s rated for like 32 teeth
Move that QR skewer to the non drive side, brother. 🤙🏻
