Maybe run a cheap winter bike if your winters are poor. Keep your nice ride for the better seasons and in better light. You wont be enjoying the advantages the bike has wearing fenders in bad weather but you could be on something more comfortable and cheaper and easier to maintain for poor conditions which can easily damage the finish of your bike.

Those fenders look awesome on your bike! You should leave them on. I rarely ride in the rain or mud. But if it is wet or muddy out, I use a cheap rear fender that straps on to the seat stays. It’s just enough to keep from getting water all over my back. I need to find something for the front tho. Can’t use real fenders because I’ve got very little tire clearance, and also have a front rack that gets in the way.

Just did a 40 km ride in muddy conditions, you know, the kind of mud with a thin layer of ice one it. And not a single speck on my back, ass and upper legs. So yes, worth it, saves your bike, your clothes and prevents you getting too cold and wet for nothing.

I put fenders on basically all of my bikes. They’re just as good for after the rain as during. And I don’t like mud and wet up my back or on my feet.

I rode once in bad weather when I got my gravel but still had to wait for the fenders, yeah…. it wasn’t worth it.
They also don’t hinder me and don’t make themselves noticeable.

I’m lucky that I have a winter bike that has wider tyres and full guards all year round and then a summer bike for the nicer weather.
Mudguards let you ride in conditions that’d otherwise leave you very wet and dirty.

I don’t ride in poor conditions because I don’t have fenders. If I did have fenders, and perhaps slightly knobby tires, I probably would ride in the rain and snow.

on a rainy muddy day when you are our riding the only people likely to see you are hiding in their cars.
