This frame colour is only available as a complete Dura-Ace, but I’m a SRAM guy so I swapped out the entire groupset for SRAM Red E1 (shorter cranks and bar width too than what usually comes on a size 52).
Only modifications I’ve done so far are:
Brake Rotors: Galfer E1 160mm/140mm (97g/79g), Brake Pads: Absolute Black Graphen (40g), Pedals: Xpedo Thrust SL Titanium (165g), Lockrings: Absolute Black (10g), Bar Tape: CCACHE x NSTRMO Burgh Bartape, Seatpost: S-Works 0mm offset (173g), Computer Mount: MagCAD (18g), Bottle Cage: S-Works Carbon Rib Cage III (24g).
I turn 50 next year and 6 months ago I decided it was high time I get back on the bike. I started with an Allez Sprint with 65 deep wheels. I love it, it both looks and “feels” so fast. I then built up a 5.4kg weight weenie S-Works SL6 rim brake and whilst it felt slower than the Allez I was 100% riding faster and for longer on it.
I now ride this S-Works SL8. Is it worth the $21K AUD asking price? HELL NO! It’s a rip off, big time, but is the SL8 great? Definitely. It’s quite literally the ‘one bike to rule them all’ in that if I had to only keep one bike it’s the no-brainer pick of the bunch as it’s just so comfortable AND fast.
