When it comes to watches, this guy holds his own place in the pantheon of horological gods, alongside names like Gérald Genta, Philippe Dufour, and others. While he may not always be in the media spotlight, you have undoubtedly encountered his work.
Jean-Pierre Hagmann is the one and only self-taught casemaker who has not only invented the case for the most famous Star Calibre 2000 of @PatekPhilippeGeneva , or the latest @louisvuitton x Rexhep Rexhepi LVRR-01 Chronographe à Sonnerie, but mastered the art of ice skating (yes!), engine construction for motorcycles, built several boats and piloted aeroplanes.
His life story deserves a Netflix series as a testament to the idea that anything is possible when you follow your true heart’s desire. Coupled with his impeccable sense of humour, he wins everyone over in an instant.
Watch our new video about Jean-Pierre and leave him your love and appreciation in the comments!
And there’s a surprise for you at the very end 🤫

Incredible video. I always love seeing a master talk about their trade. Its also great that you did this to document his work for the history of horology itself. And I love hearing how he talks about his protege, he speaks so highly of him, with no ego, just his skill that he is willing to share freely. We need more people like him! Thanks!
Thank you so much for doing this documentary. You should be really proud of your work. It is incredible and very highly appreciated by the community. I visited Mr Hagman yesterday with my 12 year old son in Geneva. You have captured the spirit of the man. So positive, so open minded, so generous – absolute marvel. Once again, thank you so much Watches TV for documenting horological history.
Incredible man!
What? 1 hour? (After watching the whole video) What? Only 1 hour? Thank you for this amazing video. This conversation is a masterclass. @Marc André: I do not know if it is your Swissness or Swedishness, but the way you drive the conversation (asking open questions, being silent and letting the other reveal themself) is so rare today and he proof that it produces so pleasant videos of immense quality and produces exceptional food for thoughts. Merci! Tack!
Quel personnage magique 🤩🤩🤩
Thanks for the wonderful work! Mr Hagmann is my hero.❤❤❤
What a fascinating and interesting man. God bless him and still so very active at 84. Thank you Marc Andre.🙏❤️🫡
Thank you for this video. I admire his personality and for sure his work ethics. A role model in many ways how to live a fulfilling life.
Quel Personnage Interessant et et attachant!!! La passion et la bonne humeur gardent jeune, un superbe exemple.
Your most interesting interview, I loved it. I have loved craftsmanship all my life.
His best quote was “ you can’t do every thing” well he had a bloody good try.
Thank you .
Thank you for this video. Something rare, very interesting and informative. A real pleasure looking at it..
Oooo….
This was incredible.
When I read the name in the title, I was sure I would learn sth, but never would’ve thought of horologic insights going as deep, as well as hearing about Swiss motorcycle companies, figure skating and aerobatics…what a man! Loved the platinum pocket watch story and the bottom line: its okay to make mistakes…if you make them once and learn from them
So important, such a genuine historical necessity, thank you Marc-André❤
I keep saying (apologies) : if the Swiss government do not recognise the value in this kind of remarkable documentary (NOT just damn “content”) then they should have the value illustrated for them! It is so much more than the franc value of the watch market : this is about LIFE CHOICES and the courage and skill and determination to forge your own path – if the Swiss do not recognize this as a valuable , aspirational essential approach to life and business, then, I despair and they deserve to lose their f@*ing triangular chocolate🤬
Une humilité de légende et une légende
Incroyable ce jean pierre… quelle vie et c'est très sympa de la faire partager… merci pour ta vidéo

Ever since I bought a watch from MAMACOO, My question is if it's this hard to tell them apart, what is the point of owning an authentic watch?
