As 2024 drew to a close, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the final Saturday of the year than completing a parkrun. Our venue, Hereford parkrun. The mist rolled across the racecourse, softening the edges of the world and creating an almost dreamlike atmosphere. Iona had a lovely chat on our way round reflecting on the Christmas celebrations we’d enjoyed and wondering how on earth the golfers we spotted were tracking their balls in the fog!
After completing the parkrun, a hearty breakfast was well-deserved, and Timothy & Birch delivered in spades. Delicious breakfast sandwiches all round and of course a coffee fix for me. The cosy ambience and welcoming atmosphere made it the ideal spot to linger a little longer in the warmth.
The day wasn’t over yet. The afternoon took us to the beautiful Hanbury Hall, where the festive spirit was in full swing. The hall was adorned with Christmas decorations inspired by the vibrant styles of the 1970s and 1980s – my childhood reborn!
Bright colours, retro baubles, and playful ornaments filled the rooms, as well as a plethora of toys and games from my childhood. Wandering through the hall, I was transported back in time, with many “I remember these” from me while Iona and Ewan wondered how we coped with 3 TV channels, no remote and VHS tapes.
Essential coffee and cakes enjoyed in the National Trust Cafe, we headed out into the grounds, where the mist lingered, adding an ethereal quality to the formal gardens.
So goodbye 2024 and a fabulous year of parkrun adventures, here’s to more runs, more adventures, and more memories in 2025! 🌫️✨🏃♂️🎄

About Ian, Iona and Family
===============================
Each week on this channel Ian (Dad) and Iona share our little adventure experiences, often joined by Ewan (Iona’s older brother) and Ruth (Mum) too.
Our weekends often start with parkrun. Iona is on a non-repeat parkrun tourism streak having now visited over 100 different places since she started parkrunning. But we don’t just do parkun and dash home, we love exploring the area and often use bikes and trains for our travels to keep our carbon footprint low and because it adds to the adventure too. When school holidays arrive, longer adventures are possible with Ewan and Iona both being keen cycle tourists and mountain climbers!
So if you like heading outdoors and your idea of a perfect weekend includes parkrun, climbing a mountain or exploring new places on two wheels then we would love to have you join us on our adventures.
We’d love it if you subscribed so you can follow our journey and hopefully be inspired to get out the door and have your own little adventures. Do like and leave comments on our videos too on questions you might have or ideas for places to explore or adventures to go on.

Well done everyone! Enjoyed following your parkrun adventures this year and an even bigger well done to Iona making the 100 woman in cycling list 🙌 Looking forward to your 2025 videos and which parkruns you get to visit 🙂
Well done guys, loved the 80's theme at Hanbury Hall. That was my decade, and I was lucky enough to have a Raleigh Chopper 😀
