It doesn't even shift of 1 gear, no matter what I try. Even if it isn't compatible (I read it is compatible with the Shimano sora r3000) shouldn't it at least shift a couple of gears? Is it broken or what?
I can't try with my old shifters because I've sold them already lol
So I have to buy the rear and front sensah derailleur now? Thanks.
(I've installed a new handlebar + cable housing, not sure if it's cramped the way I've put it so that might have contributed as well)

The cable housing is not seated properly. It needs to be fixed into the shifter body. It’s just moving when you try to shift.
The cable itself is also under no tension. Look up fitting derailleur cable on YouTube.
There’s no tension because it’s not installed correctly. I’m not familiar with this exact shifter, but you want a ferrule on the end of that cable and to seat it into the end of the shifter, near where the cable end is.
Your shift cable housing is not seated in the shifter. The end of the cable should disappear into the black plastic part of the shifter. The housing also probably needs a ferrule (cap) on the end, which will require you to pull the cable all the way out of the housing. Start there.
Make sure the shifter is clicked into the highest gear no cable take up). Set the high limit on the derailleur. Turn the barrel adjuster on your rear derailleur righty tighty until the silver bit disappears. Make sure each piece of housing is all the way seated into a cable stop at each end. Pull the cable hand tight and reclamp the cable.
