Trying to get my comfort sorted for long multiple days in the saddle. Currently running SRAM Atmos 60mm stem (set to rise) and flat bar, 760mm with 7 degree rise. I've grown used to it, but always feel a little stretched. I've recently been on a similar geo bike that had a 35mm stem and that felt more comfortable. However, it got me thinking about the sweep and that might be the key.
When researching, I headed to SQLabs and then got what I thought was counterintuitive information.
How is 16 degrees backsweep more race/stretched than 12 degrees?

I would have guessed it was the other way around too, maybe they switched the texts by mistake.
I love the 25 degree back sweep on my Soma Dream Risers, I think a back swept bar will do more for you than just improve your riding position. My wrists and elbows are much more comfortable now than on my previous hardtail with a 9 degree sweep.

it is not, you are correct that the stated perks are counterintuitive. they do state different types of bikes for each handlebar but still. both bars will shorten the reach if you are coming from a straight bar same length.
I own both bars, like them both. I have the 12 on my down country bike and the 16 on my race hardtail. The idea is that you pair the 16 with a longer stem. The hand position works well with an aggressive position, but the bar doesn’t make it aggressive. The 16 will bring your hands in a bit as well. The graphic is indeed a bit confusing. It’s more of a fit recommendation than what the bar does.
Basically, I’m trying to get more upright to take the pressure out of my shoulders and the lower back stretch. I’m keen to shorten the stem, but maybe I’ll get both bars and see what feels best. I’m due a bike fit soon too so I’ll maybe wait for that. Personally I think a 12mm sweep, 35mm stem (6 degrees+) and 30mm rise could be the sweet spot.
