  1. Chain gets longer over time cause pedal forces, and teeth at the casette gets destroyed – or more like fitted to the new length of chain. While old chain still may or not may work, the new chain is regular length and the casette starts slipping. Long story short, measure your chain reguarly and replace it in time, or you need to replace casette and chain both together – which is this case.

  2. The cassette is worn down and the teeth on the small cogs no longer match the pitch on your new chain. You need to replace the cassette, or at the very least the smallest cogs (this is possible on several HG cassettes).

    For the future; Get a tool for measuring chain wear and replace when it reaches 0.5. This should extend the life of your cassette.
