Got a bike off a friend, had one as a kid but this one is weird, the valve at least i've never seen something like this, will a gas station pump work on it and how could i operate ir when pumping the tire?

It’s a presta valve. You should be able to get an adaptor or a simple hand pump with a presta nozzle. They’re super common.

Most newer bike pumps have two holes on the pump head, one for shrader and one for presta. You’ll need to unscrew the little top part before pumping it up and retighten it when you’re done
The gnurled tip unscrews to allow you to get air in, also whilst it’s unscrewed you can push on it to lose air. Adapters for a compressor like at a gas station are only a couple bucks, any bike pump you get from a bike shop will be able to pump up both presta and schrader( the valves on cars and a bunch more shit).
