Great video Mr Bikespeeds, after seeing your video on restoring this TCR I went out and found another first generation remarkably, on marketplace and picked it up. Pretty much all original condition I'm hoping. After seeing this video I'm not so sure. I'm not sure if mine is later or has had components changed. Currently waiting on shipping and the bike to get here to see it in person. Thank you for your inspiration!

In the 1983 Peugeot catalogue, you will find the PX10FC, their Carbon Fibre tubing close-clearance frame with vertical dropouts.
They were available in 7 sizes. 50 to 61cm.
I met Mike Burrows at The Motor Industry Research Association wind tunnel when Chris Boardman was testing on the Lotus hour record bike.
I had recently bought a used 1990 Peugeot 753 with Campag Chorus group, which weighed in at 20 lb.
We talked about the Vitus Carbon Monocoque 1993 Peugeot, which was in 6 sizes.
What Mike did was drop the toptube and reduce 6 to 3 sizes. NOT an exceptional step. Those customers who fell between sizes would take the size smaller and fit a longer stem extension.
Let's face it, Raleigh's best selling bike ever was the Twenty Shopper, which came in ONE size. You adjusted the seatpin and stem to get it to fit you.
All the 'compact' did was reduce manufacturing cost. Giant proclaimed it was the best bike to buy. They fitted groupsets that would give them the maximum mark-up.
They made more money out of the unwitting cyclist
So that bike was an early slanted top tube frame. My Cannondale Topstone is similar. Between two sizes, I rode both and chose the larger for greater stack height as a touring bike. I was unaware of the adjustable stem, later ubiquitous on hybrids. Indeed a historic model!
Just bought myself in the Black Friday sale a bargain on an XS tcr frameset in there lovely dragon fly colour way. I have yet to ride it as I still need to bleed the brakes, but sitting on it you can feel it puts you in a good place pretty quickly.
