As the title says I’m new to the cycling community ever since I was 8 yrs old I saw the era of the fixed wheel bikes take over and as I grew older I always had a deep love for those types of bikes. Yesterday my Friend offered me this bike for 140$ and I took the offer he told me it was the traditional fixed gear bike nothing crazy simple entry bike
My questions as a newbie are
1. Rules that are common among the community
2. Brands and things to look out for and what to avoid
3. Just things every rider should now
And ik this bike is cheap

As cool as brakeless looks. Use at least a front brake until you get comfortable riding fixed. I had a couple of scares right when I started and recently removed the brake again after riding with it a long time.
Welcome! Foot retention is important and noticed you only have a strap on 1 side. Consider getting straps on both pedals or go clipless.
1) when you take photos, make sure it’s drive-sided.(so you can show your crank)
2) this community doesn’t exactly like to judge, but poor maintenance or overhyped brands can get you some words. Doesn’t mean you should care though.
3) Have an emergency kit to temporarily fix your bike if you ever get into a minor accident, like a tire blowing up.
But then again I’m kind of a newbie too, only been 3 months since I’ve been here😂 so good luck to us
Retention on the other pedal, and a front brake until you’re comfortable w/out one. Otherwise, welcome! That’s a good first fixie! Oh, and have fun, fr! Don’t worry about all that “noob” bs crap. You got a great starting bike.
