Hi there, I’m building up a coaster bike and haven’t done a non-9+- speed before. Is this chain wide enough for this sprocket? I’m not sure if “it fits on the teeth” is a suitable indicator of whether it’s wide enough. Any take on how much clearance I need and if I should be looking at a 1/8” chain instead? Thanks!

Look up the manufacturer specs for the hub and it should tell you what size the sprocket is. Also, if it’s not too late, get a normal chain. Half link chains look nice but they stretch loads and the cogs will wear out quicker, but if that doesn’t bother you, by all means use a half link! But also, if it doesn’t catch on the teeth, it should be fine.

That looks like a 1/8″ half-link chain (which you’ve got on backwards). You can run 1/8 chains on 3/32 cogs, but not the other way round.
1/8” stuff is designed primarily for track bikes. If a chain won’t sit fown over a cog or ring, it’s because the teeth are 1/8”. 3/32 is the standard otherwise.
