  1. This sorta thing gets posted here a lot so I’m going to parrot the same answer as always – maybe.

Go to your local bike shop and try out a few. Before anything else you need to decide if you prefer drops or flat handlebars, clipless or platform pedals. Decide if you want fenders, carrying rack, dynamo lights, ect.

Even If the shop costs more it’ll be worth it because you know what you’re getting.

You’ll want fenders and potentially studded tires and probably a back rack. Along with a new bike I like have a old shitbox FB marketplace bike so that if I’m locking up outside I don’t have to worry about it. But for work commutes that seems like a fine bike (although I don’t know too much about each brand so could be a shit bike that looks nice idk).

I got my shitbox first so that when I got a new bike I could tell how nice a difference it was to ride. Also then you learn about bike maintenance faster and what you like and don’t like about a bike.

You’re probably a medium. Check the size chart and get on one if you can before buying.

Otherwise, great choice for starting out. I personally like hybrids for commuting. They aren’t great off roading, but can handle gravel bike territory. They aren’t especially fast on road, but slightly faster than a MTB or gravel.

Big positives are they can handle crappy asphalt (cracks, potholes, etc) and usually jump a curb or two. Basically the things that would ruin a roadie the hybrid can take. They are also super comfortable, more upright stance.

Slap a rack, fenders, and lights on and you’re good to go. You’ll know what to upgrade as you go along and things fail.
