  1. If you are interested in adding reflective tape to your fenders / mudguards, I can recommend 3M SOLAS 3150A. It has very high reflectivity, very strong adhesive, and it also has a little bit of stretch to it. If you start a piece at the outside edge of your fender, tack it on in a curve out at the edge, and then use your fingers to gradually adhere it inwards from the edge, you can form it to a fender without a lot of wrinkling.

The photos I posted show all SOLAS on the front fender, while the rear fender has a pinstripe of more basic tape at the outside edge (vinyl ‘engineering grade’ tape) and SOLAS inboard.

The SOLAS stuff is designed to adhere to various watercraft gear. I have some left so I’m going to do a refresh of the reflective tape on my panniers too.

  2. is that just one spoke reflector on the front wheel? I’ve got spoke reflectors on every spoke. They really make a bike light up!

  3. FYI for those interested: You can also buy black reflective tape. Looks black in daylight, but with lights on it at night it reflects white. This is good if your ride is dark and you like it that way, but still want to be reflective at night.

  4. I have that same tape on parts of mine with some prismatic pink and silver and also put it on my helmet. If anyone says they can’t see me, they aren’t either blind, or not looking!
