Trying to loosen this front outer wheel bolt on a Cult Devotion BMX so I can install the wheel in the fork. Problem is that the “inner” nut is blocked by that little hook that I think is some kind of retaining device. On the other side of the wheel, the bolt was already loose, so no problem. I can’t loosen it by keeping the other end from spinning, as doing that loosens the bearings on the other side.
The only thing I can think of is bending that little hook out of the way so I can get a wrench in there. But even if I do that, I don’t have a thin 19 mm wrench. I only have a fat adjustable wrench. So I think I would have to saw the hook off with a hacksaw.
Obviously, a bike is not supposed to be this complicated to put a freaking wheel on a fork. No help in the manual. Can anybody think of what I’m not doing right? Thanks for any tips.gu
