  1. I am seeing a 10 nm hex screw on one side but when I try to undo it, it feels WAAAAY too tight where I have to really do 100% of my power to try to unscrew counterclockwise. Is there something I have to remove/undo first before unscrewing or am I still just not putting enough pressure to undo it?

  2. This is Trek’s ThruSkew. You need to use a metric hex (either 5mm or 6mm – not sure) to unscrew it. You should only have to unscrew the main center axle (not the little bolt holding the nut on the side).

If you go to Trek’s website for the bike, you can scroll to the “Service” section and find a link to the diagram.

Make sure you’re using a good quality hex wrench for it and that you’re holding it straight. If you strip it, it’ll be way harder to remove.
