I'm an amateur mechanic. I bought this 48t chain ring to replace the outer 50t chainring on the Shimano 105 triple, just because it's prettier. It's seems the teeth don't mess with the 11 speed chain. The setup worked fine before with the old chain ring. Just not sure what's happening. Thanks

when was the last time you changed or checked your chain for wear?
You did not replace the chain? It looks like a chain with some wear, that doesn’t fit a new chainring anymore. Chains get longer when they wear. Try a new chain. You probably need a new cassette then to.
The first thing I noticed is that that chainring does not look like it’s designed to go with that 105 crank, even though the bcd seems to fit. I could be mistaken, but it looks kinda thick. Is the chainring designed for the same amount of speed as the chain? (eg. 10s ring and 10s chain)
Other than that, this is what I typically see when people place a new chainring but keep the old chain on. If that’s the case, you should be replacing all drive train components because the chain is worn into all parts by now; meaning cassette and pulleys.
It looks to me like a track chainring. Perhaps it’s designed for a wider single speed chain. It also does not appear to have any pins to aid shifting.
Prettier, maybe, but is it compatible with your group set?
