What do you think of Ollie's new paintjob? 👀 Would you like to see more DIY and bike painting videos?
Absolutely beautiful!
Really? Only 480p? And this is 9 hours after upload.
I hope that the two dropout adjustment screws are not the original ones and they are there to protect the threading of the rear dropouts during the painting. If they are original and have been painted, it's a total unprofessional paintjob.
A deckle..
Come on
This was so satisfying to watch. Can't wait for the next episode!! Can I say "Super Nice!! ? Awesome
Is this video just going to stay at 480p? First time seeing a video take this long to offer the other resolutions
The blue and yellow SWORKS in the background (01:59) is my frame which I collected from them just this week…. Ali and Becs did an absolutely incredible job (my frame had over 2000 stencils (09:05)), their attention to detail, communication and enthusiasm are second to none. If you are thinking of getting your frame repainted, these are the guys to use.
I’ll put a video of the completed bike on my channel in the next few days.
I just bought a 1990s Kestrel 200SCI carbon fiber frame that looked like it sat in someone's closet for 20 years and the paint is in even better shape than Ollie's frame was here, but I'd still like to either paint it myself or have someone else do it. I have heard soda blasting is safe for carbon fiber, so it'd also be cool to just put gloss clear over the carbon. Save some grams and have that vintage "exotic" carbon look.
Show how to make the rear chain stay into a 10 or 11 speed
Now's the time to treat the frame with some frame saver before you rebuild it.
That is so far away from a DIY job. Telling what kind of blast material you should use but not telling that high gloss finish spay paint requires another technique than base coats or semi gloss. A thick layer of wet paint, not drying too fast ist mandatory. The paint needs time to smoothen out by surface tension. You first spray a light layer to make the surface tacky and than you lay down a heavy layer. Especially on round tubes it is hard because you will get light overspray on the back side ruin your smooth layer. It is also hard to spray thick layer without runs. So Ollie was allowed to spay the matt paint but the gloss finish was done by professional while he was watching.
Something that is faster, cheaper is to have it powder coated. That is what i did with my last frame. Also if you do get some powder or paint in the threads, very easy to chase the threads with the proper tools.
I used rattle cans to paint my old '90s mountain bike, my technique has been to spray thick coats to do it in one go, and then repeat several times to get an half decent result. And after one biking season it has already a few small dents
I've lived in Iowa for nearly all of my life – and when Ollie says "oh my goodness" – I swear there was no accent for where I live. he could move to Iowa and just adjust his inflections a hair and people would think he had lived here for years.
Last time I painted a bike I used red engine enamel 😂 I was 16
Me encantaría trabajar en ese negocio,
Is the audio bad for anyone else
Can't wait to see it in 1080p 🎉
Quality job. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
It turned out so good! This was a super helpful video
As someone who has painted multiple frames I gotta say, the hardest part is masking. If you get it wrong the whole project is ruined. You have to take your time with masking to save a lot of work later.
still in 480p max resolution, worth a reupload for the good content provided
Its not finished till you put the Columbus tubing decal on
DISSOLVED company ??? Went onto website to see if I can take my bike there because I don't want to post it !!!! Could not find an address for them but found this https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/maloD-sT1o_21cR2D0ROP4JYxWY/appointments
I hope that in the next step ,you're gonna use tubulars !?!
480p?
Hi guys, first of all I love this video series!!!! I ride my dads old road bike (2004 Scott Speedster) and not just do I love the fact that it's my dads and I'm "riding" on it's story, I also love to keep a bike on the road rather then riding something for a few years and then throwing it away and getting something new. It's both more economical and ecological… Ps.: Olly could you share where you got those decals? Thx again for the videos and merry Xmas Mo
What’s an aerosol gun then? Do you mean a spray gun? I thought the rattle cans were aerosols!!
