Recently bought an old fixie from a friend. I'm a complete beginner regarding this fixie stuff. Any tips or advice?(other than i need to change the old parts 😂).
Try to keep up the pedalling cadence when going down hill, it’ll teach you great technique very quickly

first thing after or before buying old bike check the chain condition, old chain will eventually worn out. Park tool have the tutorial video when to change the chain. then check all the join of the frame tubing. check if there any crack or rust, specially on the bottom bracket. also put foot retention either it’s toe clip, straps, or clipless pedals, although clipless is more expensive and needs special shoes.
